BILBO BAGGINS β€οΈπ₯Ή
Alrighty, time for me to get sappy for a sec. For those of you that donβt know, back in the spring (the same week we got engaged!) we got a mini dachsund and named him Bilbo Baggins. As he has little legs, naming him after a hobbit only felt right, and I knew instantly it had to be Bilbo. He has been the brightest light and joy for Julian and I this year π I donβt think Iβve ever laughed as much as I have since getting him because heβs just the biggest goofball. The minute I got him I knew we had to do a return to middle earth collection because how could I have a dog name Bilbo and not a colourway called Bilbo?
Now this may be a hot take, but I personally think the Hobbit is the greatest adventure fantasy novel of all time. The pacing and characters are top tier, and I just love Bilbo as a protagonist. We decided to take inspiration from both the jacket he wears in the Hobbit movies AND the vest he wears in the beginning of the triology movies and Iβm just obsessed with how it came out π₯Ή this to me is the perfect cherry red. Darker than a lot of the previous reds weβve done, this to me is the perfect rich hue for autumn or even a Christmas sweater π
Now for the good stuff - Jules and I may just have matching Dagmar Sweater samples coming, so I knew I had to make Bilbo a matching one too. I used a free pattern on ravelry called the Edinburgh Seamless Dog Sweater by CalicoRadio Knits and winged it adding the Dagmar cable motif to it and it came out so perfect π
